Helpful Tricks For 3D Printing

The handling of a 3D printer requires a lot of skill. These tricks simplify the handling considerably.

More and more users have added a 3D printer or think about it seriously, as PrinterHall says. These devices are far from plug-and-play. On the contrary: craftsmanship is always in demand. Some basic tips, however, simplify the handling of the object counters considerably.

Installing the printer software: For each 3D printer model, you need a program that prepares the 3D template for later printing. Sometimes it is the 3D printer model on CD.Better, however, download it directly from the manufacturer website to your computer. So you can be sure to have the latest version.

Do not simply double-click the exe file to launch the installation process. In practice the application of the software with administrator rights has proven to be much more smoothly. To do this, select the exe file and right-click the “Install as administrator” context menu. At the same time, active virus scanners can interfere with the installation process. It is best to enable them while you are printing the printer software onto your computer.

Printing platform: Some plastics quickly harden. This can happen during printing. In the worst case, they lose their grip on the platform and simply detach themselves. The result: The printing process fails. If the surface of the building is heated, adhesive is used to increase adhesion. Take a commercially available glue stick and apply a thin layer on the glass or plastic plate. The residue can be removed with a damp cloth after printing.

In the case of non-heatable printing platforms, Malerkrepp assumes the same function. The most suitable variant is the smooth surface. Glue two to three sheets carefully onto the construction platform. Avoid large distances between them. Wrinkles also worsen the print results later, as the outlines appear on the surface of the 3D print. The background material not only gives your object more liability, but also simplifies peeling after printing, since you can simply peel off the painter creping web and thus release the finished 3D object from the platform.

Repair broken objects: In some cases the finished objects do not want to be removed from the platform. A careless movement can cause fragile parts to be broken. This is annoying and costs you in the worst case a repetition of the pressure and thus often a waiting period of several hours. As an intermediate, acetone can help. The solvent acts just as an adhesive just for ABS plastic (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene). Apply a little on the broken parts. The acetone dissolves them. If you now press the parts together and hold something, they connect stably.
